Born in Argentina, Maria was raised in Mexico. Having studied Visual Arts at the National School of Fine Arts (ENAP) in Mexico, she later pursued graduate studies at the Chelsea College of Art & Design (London, UK) and at the San Francisco Art Institute. In 2010 she moved to Montreal, where she recently concluded a PhD in Art Education at Concordia University. A recipient of many prestigious awards, including the Fulbright-Garcia Robles Scholarship and the FRQSC award, Maria Ezcurra is also a member of the National System of Art Creators (SNCA) in Mexico. She has participated in more than 60 group and 15 individual exhibits in Europe, Australia, Latin and North America. Maria has taught art in a number of universities and schools in Mexico and Canada over the past 15 years, and was the first Artists-in-Residence working at the Faculty of Education, in McGill University. Currently, Maria lives between Mexico City and Montreal.
