Threatened (Birds in Canada) (2024) is a series of 51 life size drawings representing bird species currently at risk in Canada, many of them migratory. Drawn on recycled cardboard, the works depict species listed under the Canadian Species at Risk Act, including birds classified as endangered, threatened, or of special concern.
Rooted in an ecofeminist and intersectional perspective, the project reflects on ecological memory, biodiversity loss, and the complex interdependencies between human and non-human migrations. By using repurposed materials and working at the scale of each bird’s actual body, the series emphasizes both presence and vulnerability, inviting viewers to consider the fragile balance between environmental systems and the political, social, and climatic forces that shape them.
